The following is from the "Bylaws of San Jose Metropolitan Band, A California Public Benefit Corporation, Article 2, Purposes":

 2.1 OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSES

The primary objectives and purposes of this corporation shall be:

(a) to promote and develop an instrumental concert band;

(b) to provide musical instruction for members and the public;

(c) to present concerts before the public.
